Despite reports that Rick Ross suffered from a seizure that rendered him unconscious, MTV News has learned that the Bawse is okay. The Teflon Don even sent out a message via Twitter downplaying the incident.
TMZ broke the news that at 12:55 p.m. ET, Rozay, who was traveling from Ft. Lauderdale to Memphis, Tennessee to perform a show, fell unconscious right after his plane took-off. According to the site, the plane had to make an emergency landing while a doctor on board administered CPR. A number of members from Ross’ Maybach Music Group have confirmed with MTV News that Rozay is now okay. None would confirm if the rapper suffered a seizure, but only said that he was “good.”
Wale, who is signed to Ross took to Twitter to end the speculation that Rozay may not pull through and also shot out a promotion for Rozay’s upcoming God Forgives, I Don’t LP. “I just talked to Ross…he’s 100 pct ok…@tmz #dontpanic #dontpanic #mmg !!!! #gfid dec 13th!,” he wrote. Ross’ DJ Sam Sneaker also took to Twitter writing, “I’m wit @rickyrozay now he good…” In addition, MMG’s videographer SpiffTvFilms wrote, “Just Got Off The Phone With My Brother @rickyrozay He’s Good Don’t Believe The Hype #Godforgivesidont Dec 13Th.”
In response to Rap Radar founder’s Elliott Wilson’s tweet: “@rickyrozay Don’t scare a n—a like that. Thanks,” Ross fired back ’@elliottwilson never dat homie..we ouchea #mmg powercircle!!!!”
Singer Rihanna tweeted in support, “#Pray4RickRoss love u bro…hang in there! Wish u better.” Longtime pal and mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs added, “Praying for my brother @rickyrozay ! #PrayforRickRoss” and followed up that tweet with “@rickyrozay Im happy you’re good my brother!” after learning the MMG boss was fine.
A spate of insensitive jokes exploded on Twitter regarding the incident, sparking some fans on the social media network to lash back. “How can people be making jokes about this??? Get well soon Rick Ross #PrayforRickRoss,” tweeted @FoKeezy. User @WondaMusic added, “Glad to hear @rickyrozay is doing alright!”
MTV News has reached out to representatives at Def Jam Records where Ross is signed as an artist and are still awaiting a statement.
Rick Ross will release his fifth studio album God Forgives, I Don’t this coming December.
