Is Willow Smith gunning for Nicki Minaj’s spot? Perhaps not as the preteen songbird is just a mere 10 years of age and only beginning her career with Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. However, the Young Money diva has linked up with the daughter of power couple actor-rapper Will Smith and actress Jada Pinkett-Smith on a new single from young Willow titled “Fireball” – and as the title suggests, fans are calling this track a heater.
Earlier today (October 5), Willow tweeted her third single after teasing about the track in earlier tweets. After exploding onto the Web today (and Willow Smith's name becoming a trending topic), fans on fast moving social network Twitter had plenty to say about the Willow and Nicki one-two punch.
“Boom! 10 yrs old & scores @NickiMinaj for a track?” said television personality Ryan Seacrest of the collaboration before tweeting the link to the song. An excited @MrZackeryWalls tweeted, “That New "Willow Smith" and Nicki minAj (FireBalls) is Touch!! Right out the Gate She's going Hard. A second Hit.. She's already BIGGG!!!”
“That new willow smith and nicki minaj song is kinda nice,” added an impressed @jaaayno. Television host Jimmy Kimmel jabbed at Willow slightly by saying, “No, Willow Smith, you are not the fireball of the party. You are ten” – prompting more than a few fans to insult the late night funnyman for going after the young singer.
Nicki Minaj has had quite the busy week, after featuring on two other songs this week. Big Sean’s “Dance (Ass) and Rick Ross’ “You The Boss” – and folks out there in the blogosphere are noticing. “Nicki Minaj is making this her week! #GoNicki,” tweeted an observant @KarenCivil.
Nicki may not be passing her newly lit torch over to Willow just yet but this collaboration certainly appears to be a promising one for the budding young starlet.
