Recently freed then jailed again rapper T.I. remains on lockdown following a transportation "flap" that his lawyer has been working on around the clock since the MC was sent back to jail last week. According to reports, T.I. is currently in jail at a Georgia facility wrapping up the rest of his sentence that ends on September 29 while his legal team feverishly attempt to have him placed back into a halfway house.
“The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) appears to have an issue with the circumstances surrounding T.I.’s transportation from Arkansas to Atlanta. At this point, T.I. has not been given formal notice by the BOP of any alleged transgression,” the rapper’s attorney Steve Sadow said in a statement released to MTV’s RapFix. “Since I have no specifics, I am not yet in a position to comment except to say that we are confident there was never any intent or reason to mislead or misstate the circumstances surrounding his transportation.”
On Wednesday Tip was released from Forrest City Correctional Facility in Arkansas and made his way to a community living facility in Georgia, where he was scheduled to serve the remainder of his 11-month sentence for a probation violation. The rapper arranged to be transported in a private vehicle, but it seems that the luxury tour bus that he chose to ride in was deemed unacceptable by the BOP. He has since been relocated to another facility. However, Sadow contends that the Trap Muzik MC boarded the bus while prison officials looked on.
“T.I. got on a private bus in the prison's parking area in full view of BOP employees. Indeed, he was actually escorted to the bus by a prison guard,” he said.
The rapper’s wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris spoke with TMZ earlier today and had an account similar to Sadow. "This is a bunch of bullsh-- ... they should have said something before he got on the bus ... T.I. would have politely gotten into a van,” she told the gossip site.?
“We hope to clear up any confusion or misunderstanding quickly so T.I. can return to the halfway house,” Sadow said.
