Not many would expect iconic singer Bob Dylan and longtime rap fixture Jay-Z to be mentioned in the same breath, but that’s exactly what the grandson of the legendary artist said in a recent interview. It also appears that young Pablo at age 15 has the support of his granddad as the newbie rapper’s latest mixtape 10 Minutes was unleashed to the world recently.
In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Pablo expressed that he considers his grandfather’s legacy in music to be as important as Jay-Z’s contribution to Hip Hop. ““I mean, really, my grandfather, I consider him the Jay-Z of his time, and he definitely has a legacy that a lot of people look up to," Pablo Dylan said to AllHipHop.com during the interview. "He feels strongly about my music and I love him to death.”
Pablo showed amazing self-awareness by not comparing his work to his famous grandpa but did say that he is directly influenced by the elder Dylan’s work and hopes to carry the torch with years to come after releasing his first mixtape 10 Minutes; he also named Eminem an early inspiration as well. “Of course we do two different things, and I don’t want people to see me for what he has done. But, what I have done, I mean from a musical and personal standpoint, is definitely influenced by him," Pablo Dylan said further to AllHipHop.com. "Everyone around me influences me, and I have learned so much from him just listening to his records, but I hope his music continues to live on through what I continue to do the rest of my life.”
