Fast rising rapper Kendrick Lamar has been making waves on the hip hop music circuit as a result of his series of well received mixtapes and most recently his close alliance with legendary producer Dr. Dre. As the 24-year old West Coast rhyme slinger prepares for his latest project Section 80, the MC formerly known as K.Dot has released to the world a new single “Ronald Reagan Era (His Evils)” featuring Wu-Tang Clan legend The RZA.
Produced by Tae Beast, Kendrick goes in over some hard drums, soft violin strings and employs his usual array of rhyme flows and pattern switches. Released to the Web this past Friday (June 17) and also the rapper's actual birthday, fans on Twitter had a bit to say about Kendrick Lamar’s latest drop.
Excited fan @Grussle tweeted, “This new Kendrick Lamar x RZA - Ronald Reagan Era......N--KIN FUTZ” while @TwinLoco shared in the glee with, “YES! Brand new Kendrick Lamar. And this track is a BANGER! New album drops July 2nd. Can't wait!” – both echoing the general sentiment shared amongst fans.
It also seems that Kendrick’s latest is garnering the young spitter some financial support as well. “Kendrick Lamar is insane yo. I'm buying any project he releases,” tweeted user @StatikBanks. “This Kendrick Lamar ft. RZA Reagan Era is too fire!” added fan @FreshmanNC to the adoration of the track.
Kendrick’s headlining and reportedly packed show this past Friday (June 17) at the Southpaw in Brooklyn, NY has also sparked higher interest in the upstart rapper, as fans on Twitter tweeted about the show while the blogosphere is abuzz with video footage of Kendrick’s performance.
Kendrick Lamar’s latest album Section 80 will drop on July 2 on the indie Top Dawg Entertainment. He will also be featured on Dr. Dre's upcoming long awaited Detox album.
