Lil Wayne Rocks 'Unplugged,' Fans React

Lil Wayne and his much publicized “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged” world premiere last night (June 12) may have clashed with some fans watching the eclipse of the Miami Heat as they lost to the underdog Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals on ABC, but the popular New Orleans MC enjoys one of the most dedicated fan bases in any genre and it seems that many were definitely plugged in for the show – which also enjoyed the distinction of being the first “Unplugged” rap special since Jay-Z did it in 2001.

Taking a decidedly less acoustic but still enjoyable turn, much to the chagrin of a just a few fans, Lil Wayne’s “Unplugged” performance mirrored the intensity the rapper shown since his release from prison and his ongoing “I Am Still Music” tour stops. Running through hits such as the thumping “A Milli” and crowd favorite “6 Foot 7 Foot,” the Young Money head honcho showed expert command – even with slower offerings such as a silky rendition of “Lollipop” and his current single “How To Love.”

Fans on Twitter chimed in with plenty of comments, with some remarking on the audio format of Wayne’s song choices. Twitter user @WizdomSelah was satisfied with Wayne’s outing but offered, “I love Lil Wayne. I just wish they would keep it pure acoustics anything else is more like a concert we can see at anytime.” Fan @charloro tweeted, “Lil Wayne's MTV Unplugged performance... the band is killer... and finally, no autotune! I'm impressed.”

Excited fan @JuJuis TIght said, "Shout out to @MTV & @MTV_2 for Giving us Lil Wayne Fans this Great Unplugged! History in the Making! :)" while @TiaraSoBoojie shared in the excitement with, "Watching "Lil Wayne Unplugged" : ) I've been to so many concerts and Lil Wayne has ALWAYS been the BEST :)!!!"

To catch the encore performance of Lil Wayne’s set, "MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged" is ready to view on-demand at, and it will be shown again on MTV2 on Monday (June 13) at 9 p.m. ET.
