After swearing off the substance that helped form the basis around one of most well-known songs, Kid Cudi offers up a tribute to the green leaf in the latest video from his second album Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager titled "Marijuana" – which showcases the former "lonely stoner" in a more hazier element as he traipses around Amsterdam at the 2010 Cannabis Cup awards. The documentary-styled clip and jittery camerawork are coupled with the dramatic, rock-tinged track and Mr. Scott Mescudi drops his signature whispering sing-song style over the course of four and a half minutes.
Directed by "Transformers" actor Shia LaBeouf, Kid Cudi fans around the blogosphere had mixed feelings on the clip but still showed a great deal of support of the Cleveland native's latest visuals.
An enthusiastic commenter on music blog 2dopeboyz posted, "PLEASE DON"T GO LONELY STONER ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! THIS IS SOOOOOOOO COLD !!!!!!!"
Fans on other sites were equally stoked. "Hell yeah i have been waiting for this kid cudi has to be one of my fav artists he always comes through," added one user. Another supporter shared in the excitement by saying, "[T]his is my joint! (no pun)."
Twitter fans seemed to have the most to say about it, with some feeling that the video contradicts Cudi's plea to stop using drugs. "So Kid Cudi says in interviews he is off drugs. Then he drops the video for "Marijuana" and he is smoking all in it," tweeted user k_deuce.
User TaskProductions gave the rapper a glowing endorsement and shout out by tweeting, "This new Kid Cudi video is trill... I feel likepeople slept on that album. One of my favorites from 2010."
