Killer Mike is no hater. The Grind Time boss who discovered Maybach Music signee Pill as a teen, told MTV News that he is all for the rookie rapper’s recent success with Rick Ross.
“I’m happy that Pill is over there at Maybach,” Mike said. “I’m really hoping he gets the shot that he deserves because I feel like a lot of people have been heard in front of him who are not as dope as him, coming out of our region. And I really want my little bro to get the shot to be the star that he is and deserves be.”
Mike was first introduced to the “Trap Goin' Ham” rapper when the budding MC was just a teenager and considers him family. “Pill’s been a part of my family since he was 17 years old,” he said. “My cousin first introduced me to him; they went to the same high school together. They went to the same high school I went to.”
Killer has since made Pill a part of his Grind Time rap crew and has featured him on his I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind Vol. 1 and Vol.2, as well as his Underground Atlanta compilation which dropped in 2009. There are even plans in motion for Killer Mike, Big Boi and Pill to form a group and drop a collaborative project. Until then however, the ATL upstart is busy promoting the MMG compilation Self Made which hit stores on Monday (May 23).
You can catch Pill, Rick Ross and the rest of his MMG label mates Wale and Meek Mill on “RapFix Live” this Wednesday at 4p.m. ET on MTV.com.
