Add Tyga to the now growing list of artists who are gaining more attention over their selection of hair style versus how many bars they kicked and who produced them. Over the past weeks/months, Jim Jones, Wiz Khalifa, The Game and Chris Brown are just a few to name who've made headlines over some form of alteration to their dome piece. Most recently, photos of Young Money MC Tyga have circulated showing the California native with a brownish-rust hair color.
Tyga is currently on opening up duties for friend Diddy and his Diddy-Dirty Money tour with stops hitting his hometown Los Angeles this past weekend. Last month Tyga spoke on being on tour with Diddy and the advice he recieved from Lil Wayne how to be self-sufficient.
"Wayne told us: Don't rely on him to make you hot, don't rely on him for the hits. You have to really go out and grind for your own and build your own fanbase," Tyga told Sway during MTV News' "Rap Fix Live." "That's important. People respect that more, too, when you can build your own foundation and they can really get to you as an artist and not get to know you as a group."
The Grammy-nominated L.A. rapper said he has learned a lot by watching the D-DM stage show and that Combs often comes to him for performance tips as well. "Every time he comes to me after the show and is like, 'How was that? Was the show dope? Tell me what you think,' " Tyga said. " And I tell him stuff like, 'Maybe you should add that song right there to keep the energy' or whatever. It's a lot of respect out there."
Diddy-Dirty Money's 20-city tour kicked off last month in Minneapolis and will make stops in Toronto, Boston and NYC before concluding in St. Louis on May 15.
