As the heir to the legendary Run DMC throne, the pressure to live up to the legacy of the pioneering rap group could be big shoes to fill for an 18 year old teenager. Joseph McDaniels' celebrity seed Diggy is prepared to take on the challenge and already has a good start with high praises from the Hip-Hop community, most recently spotlighted on "XXL's 2011 Freshmen 11" class.
Diggy has kept a relatively low profile music-wise the past few months while hard at work in the studio working on his untitled debut album. This past weekend Diggy revealed he was on the verge of finally releasing the first single off his debut but kept the specifics regarding the track to a minimum.
"I can't really say any detail on it yet," Diggy told us at Bamboozle. "But premeditating, I wanna keep it humble but it's gonna do damage to the summer, that's what I'mma say."
As promised, earlier this evening a track from Diggy featuring Bruno Mars titled "Click Clack Away" hit the net. According to inside sources, an additional track with another promising MC is also expected to land on the World Wide Web any day now. Regardless the volume of material, Diddy says his raps will be a pure reflection of whom he is.
"People they say when they're down, they can relate to it," he said. "It'll lift their spirits up or they can just have fun with it. They just love it and that's what I love because it comes from my heart. I don't talk about nothing I don't do, man. I don't talk about nothing that's not real. I talk about my life, so the fact that they really connect with it and love it, it makes my life, man."
"As I get older, I got more to talk about," Diggy continued. "As I evolved, just the wordplay, the content, everything, I just keep getting better and better song-wise, format-wise. The album, it's nothing compared to the mixtapes and what I have out now. It's at a different level."
