Ever wondered what Nicki Minaj thinks are her favorite collaborations in her short but successful career? The Young Money diva let the cat out the bag and named two songs last night (March 1) via her Twitter account.
Nicki tweeted that the mixtape track “Sunshine” featuring her boss Lil Wayne was her favorite feature. The track, a cover of Jay-Z’s and Foxy Brown’s duet of the same name, appeared on Nicki’s 2008 mixtape Sucka Free. The Pink Friday star added in a later tweet that another mixtape track featuring Weezy was also a fave. DJ Khaled’s “Go Hard’ served as the backdrop for the collaboration between the pair and the blistering cover of Khaled’s track appeared on the Harajuku Barbie’s 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty.
Minaj has recently sworn off doing collaborations in a recent interview, stating the only star she will break her self-imposed two-year rule for is beleaguered pop music star Britney Spears.
A smattering of listeners on Twitter offered some light commentary over Nicki’s revelation. “I'll take a even mixture of both for a 1000, Alex...@ Nicki.” tweeted @carolinaware. An unimpressed @HypnoticBX added “they are both overrated i dont care.”
Most certainly preparing for the kickoff of this month’s "I Am Music II" March 18 in upstate New York, Nicki will have ample opportunity to perform with her mentor and CEO. The Young Money pair will be joined by Maybach Music Group mogul Rick Ross and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker on the 24-city tour.
