Fans React to Chris Brown’s Album Success

By Kathy Iandoli

Despite all of the ups and downs throughout the past few weeks, Chris Brown has the number one album in the country.

The R&B artist’s fourth studio album F.A.M.E., having leaked a few weeks prior, landed at number one on the Billboard 200 with a staggering 270,000 copies sold. Per CNN, this is his second best week ever, as 2007’s Exclusive garnered 294,000 in sales, but only arrived at number four in its debut. This is Brown’s fourth Top 10 album, with his 2005 self-titled album having reached number two and Graffiti peaking at number seven. F.A.M.E. marks Brown’s first number one debut.

For the first time in a while, Chris Brown had good news to tweet. “I wanna thank all of my fans for making my album number 1 in the country!! I love you! We did it,” Brown expressed over Twitter. “I live for my music!! I survive for my fans!!!”

Fans of the entertainer were equally congratulatory over Twitter and seemed genuinely happy for their favorite soul-singing rebel. “CONGRATS TO CHRIS BROWN..........F.A.M.E. IS NUMBER ONE IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!” tweets @Kasper4779. “Congrats to Chris Brown on the number 1 album; its well deserved,” another fan @Sarah_SFNR added.

Some weren’t so pleased with the album’s success. “Chris Brown has the number one album on billboard. this is why people hate Americans,” says @jenna_dubs. “Disappointed in the american public for buying enough copies of chris brown's album to put him at number one,” @djbrainchild states.

The journey to the album’s release on March 22nd was chock full of ups and downs. Nude photos of Brown were circulated and chased with further evidence in his violent altercation with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Add to that the leaked album, and an outburst at ABC’s Good Morning America and it seemed as though Chris Brown was on a permanent streak of bad luck. Well that luck has changed and the fans have spoken by going out and supporting the artist in spite of his media pitfalls.

“S/O to Chris Brown for snagging that number 1 spot. You proved that it's about the MUSIC! Congrats!” tweeted @TheDejaune. While Brown’s F.A.M.E. stands for “Forgiving All My Enemies”, this time they probably are forgiven.
