Jennifer Lopez has been quite hip hop friendly over the course of her 11-year music career. However, the singer voiced a pointed opinion over the weekend that is sure to get some Hip-Hop fans riled up.
The new “American Idol” judge is back to making music after a four-year hiatus and the famed paparazzi target has been enjoying a notable career resurgence no doubt linked to her involvement with the widely popular amateur music competition. However, the New York-bred beauty may be betraying her hometown roots by replacing her former favorite rapper Nas with New Orleans native Lil Wayne.
The On The 6 star declared Lil Tunechi her favorite current rapper, calling him “very unique” and placing Nas in the top rapper position. Lopez also shared that the two have worked on an upcoming track. “My next single I believe will be a song called 'I'm Into You' and it's going to feature Lil Wayne, so look out for that,” said J.Lo to MTV News.
Back in February, Lopez first shared her Weezy fandom with Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez, stating she made her discovery during a workout while rocking the Young Money boss’ tunes. "I was listening to what he was saying and I just really enjoyed it. He might be one of the best out there right now. He might be the best. He’s really good," remarked Lopez. A little foreshadowing perhaps?
J.Lo has been hard at work on her seventh studio album Love? which was originally slated for an April release and now has been pushed back until sometime in May according to reports.
Is J.Lo on the money by saying Lil Wayne is the best rapper out?
