NBA all-star forward Carmelo Anthony made his national television debut as a New York Knick against the loaded Miami Heat team starring Lebron James Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh this evening in a crushing defeat for the empire state. However, there were a few sports junkie rappers inside Miami’s American Airlines arena, one in particular who once chastised James and Wade for not acknowledging him in print.
New Orleans native and current Miami resident Lil Wayne was spotted courtside at tonight’s game and while the comments Wayne made in his post-prison Rolling Stone magazine interview were indeed blistering, Lebron and Weezy have seemingly patched up the rift. No word on if Wade and the rapper have made the same truce since the interview was released to the public.
Other attendees at tonight's game include Birdman, sitting alongside DJ Khaled as well as producer Timbaland.
Lil Wayne has been a fixture at Heat games of late, with the Young Money honcho appearing courtside at Miami’s close win over the lowly Washington Wizards this past Friday. A known sports enthusiast, the man born Wayne Carter has been a guest on the sports cable network ESPN’s "First Take" morning show various times and seen playfully warring with long time analyst Skip Bayless.
Wayne also made the Made U Look segment during Super Bowl XLV in where the southern megastar was seen adorned in his beloved Green Bay Packers gear, complete with the “Cheesehead” hat. Although his home team of the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2010, Weezy has long ago claimed Green Bay as his favorite team.
The Knicks defeated the home team Miami Heat 91-86.
