We hinted at it earlier this week, when Eminem passed the one billion view count mark on Youtube, and now it’s actually happened. According to Famecount, Slim Shady has eclipsed Lady Gaga as the most like living person on Facebook. Em has approximately 8,000 more fans than Gaga right now. Earlier this week, she lead the Detroit MC by roughly 1,000. It was speculated that his forthcoming video for “Space Bound” might push him ahead of Gaga, but instead, it may have been the anticipation and subsequent release of the video for Dr. Dre’s “I Need A Doctor” that did it. The video premiered online on Rapfix Live.
Or, maybe it’s just the natural growth of Eminem’s fanbase online. Gaga, Eminem and Rihanna seem to all be jockeying for position as the most liked person on Facebook. Em’s adding about half a million fans on Facebook a week, but Rihanna’s fanbase on the social networking site seems to be growing faster. She may wind up eclipsing him, eventually. Famecount takes into account more than just one stream of social media— Twitter and Youtube also are factored— and at that, Eminem is still trailing Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
Eminem has put an end to Lady Gaga’s eight-month reign as the most-liked living person on Facebook.
Social media statistics service Famecount says that Eminem now has roughly 8,000 more fans than Lady Gaga, who until this week had a lead of only 1,000 over the white rapper. Now both stars are closing in on the 29 million fan mark, shy by over 100,000.
Eminem has been picking up more than half a million new fans a week, but apparently Rhianna’s Facebook fandom is growing faster, making her what Famecount calls the “one to watch.”
And when Twitter and YouTube factor into the rankings, Eminem comes in third after Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, respectively.
