Wiz Khalifa Keeps Busy

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have lost the Super Bowl, but hometown rapper Wiz Khalifa has plenty to smile about. “Black and Yellow” still sits at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the precocious MC has announced his own “Green Carpet” tour and is still nabbing recruits for his movement, whether fans or fellow MCs.

While Wiz has shown a proclivity for marijuana in person and in song, the Green Carpet tour is actually about the environmental awareness. The month long, 17-city tour is sponsored part of the Spring 2011 Campus Consciousness tour sponsored by Reverb and Pretty Polly Productions. According to CCT’s website, the tour aims to “inspire and activate students in an electric atmosphere while leaving a positive impact on each community the tour visits” as well as “minimal environmental footprint.”

Just yesterday Wiz was announced as one of the featured acts at the prestigious Bonnaroo Festival which goes down in June. The Green Carpet tour kicks off on March 31 at Emory University and the last date is April 22 at Auburn University. The tour is only part of the ongoing promotion for Wiz’s upcoming major label debut, Rolling Papers. He recently sat down with the Fader Magazine to discuss, what else, “Black and Yellow.”

“When I put it out I felt it was just gone be a really good way to introduce people to me and it was a good way to get people on board with what I was doing by letting them know where I was from,” @MTVRapFix or tell us in a comment below?
