Early Grammy award winner Usher snagged two of the coveted awards – one in the Male R&B Vocal Performance category for the song “There Goes My Baby” and another for his album Raymond V Raymond which won for Best Contemporary R&B album.
Before Usher’s performance, a video showing a young Justin Bieber auditioning for Usher backstage before a show. As reported, Usher introduced the teen sensation to Def Jam mogul LA Reid and Bieber has exploded to become one of music’s biggest stars – Bieber also performed along with budding movie star Jaden Smith.
Usher, who appeared on the 53rd Grammy Awards as a performer alongside his mentee Bieber, performed his hit song “OMG” and fans on Twitter reacted to the performance with mixed results. Towards the end of the high energy dance number, Bieber joined his mentor with some synchronized dance moves and even provided a bit of background vocals on the track.

Justin Bieber, nominated for two Grammys, is up for the Best New Artist award and his competition is stiff with Drake, Esparanza Spalding, Mumford and Sons and Florence and the Machine in mix as well. Bieber is also a nominee for Best Pop Vocal album.
