Get ready to “Fly” Barbz.
As Nicki Minaj mentioned in an interview this week, she and pop star buddy Rihanna began shooting the video for one of their collaborations, “Fly.” “Raining Men” is the pair’s other duet from Rihanna’s Loud LP.
“We’re shooting the video with Rihanna for ’Fly’ this weekend,” Nicki told E! News on Thursday. “We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video, and that’s all I can say about that. … I love Ri Ri! I mean, when she’s not grabbing my ass, she’s a sweet girl.”
“We also worked together on her album. I can’t say … actually, the reason I can’t tell you is because I don’t know the official title of the song,” she said. “It might be ’To Fly,’ I’m not sure if that’s the confirmed [title].”
According to the producer behind “Fly,” J.R. Rotem, the track came together at the last minute.
“Near the tail end of her project, I came into the studio and I had some tracks [for her]. That was one of the ones I was excited about,” Rotem told MTV News. “When I played it for her, she knew instantly: ’Yes, this is the record.’ She connected with it immediately. I could just tell she was excited by it, which excited me.”
