Lil Wayne's '6 Foot 7 Foot': 5 Reasons It's Right On Time

By D.L. Chandler

Don’t call it a comeback, Weezy was only gone one year.

But Lil Wayne's newest song "6 Foot 7 Foot" — the first single from his upcoming Tha Carter IV opus — is a strong reintroduction from one of the best in the game. The rapper himself called the track "a very tall record" but here are five reasons  RapFix thinks "6 Foot 7 Foot" is the perfect song for the Wayne to release right now.

1. It’s a Quiet Fourth Quarter

While everybody’s winding down from the Nicki Minaj-Kanye West LP whirlwind and crafting year-end lists, no MC is really releasing anything outside of Soulja Boy's The DeAndre Way, T.I.'s No Mercy and Diddy’s Last Train To Paris — which we're live-blogging. This is a perfect wake-up call to let the world know that Weezy is back.

2. Reuniting with "A Milli" Producer Bangladesh

Bangladesh gave Wayne one of his most coveted (and remixed) tracks with "A Milli." After his success with Lil Wayne, Bangladesh made hits for pop stars like Beyoncé ("Diva") but it's great to see Bang back in the studio with Weezy. Not to mention the track blends perfectly with Weezy and Young Money signee Cory Gunz's blistering rhymes.

3. No Auto-Tune Needed

While Birdman Jr.'s made great use of the vocal plug-in, Lil Wayne’s voice in its natural state is still one of the most compelling in the game.

4. Punchlines Punchlines Punchlines!

Wayne said "If these n---as animals, then I’m a have a mink soon!" Lines like these are proof that the MC did not lose his visual, clever, confident lyrics. When Weezy is on, he’s unstoppable.

5. Power in Numbers

Like Michael Vick on the Philadelphia Eagles, Young Money's commissioner proved that jail rust is nothing that can't be shaken off. With Wayne leading his label's charge, Young Moolah, which was already a heavy hand in the rap game, is force to be reckoned with.

Bonus Punchline:

"I got through that sentence like a subject and a predicate, yeah ... " raps Wayne.
