Is Kanye West This Generation's Michael Jackson?

This isn't a great week for Kanye West.

After filming an interview with the "Today" show, the MC said Wednesday (November 9) that he was taken advantage of and made his opinions very clear via Twitter.

"He played clips of Bush and asked me to look at his face while I was trying to talk to him," wrote Kanye, describing his interview experience with "Today" host Matt Lauer. "I wish Michael Jackson had twitter!"

"Maybe Mike could have explained how the media tried to set him up! It's all a f---ing set up!" he continued.

This isn't the first time that Kanye West has mentioned the late Jackson when discussing his own life as a controversial pop star.

"Jesus died for our sins, Michael [Jackson] died for the sins of our media. Jesus had the bible, [Michael] had Wikipedia,” said the Chicago MC recently during an interview with Minnesota radio station KDWB.

The situation began last week, when a clip of George Bush's interview with the "Today" show hit the Internet. In the snippet, Bush expressed anger at Kanye West calling him a "racist" for his slow reaction to Hurricane Katrina's devastation and called the incident one of the lowest points of his presidency. In response, Kanye empathized with the former president via Twitter, saying that he himself had been unfairly "labeled a racist" after the Taylor Swift debacle.

Now, following his experience on the "Today" show, took to Twitter, deleting any accounts he followed and published a succession of posts about his feelings.

Now, RapFix is wondering, with all of 'Ye's tweets, lyrical mentions—"I hold my head, MJ gone, our n---- dead" he raps on "All of the Lights"—and cinematic nods (the Michael parade during the short film "Runaway"), coupled with constantly finding himself at odds with the media: Is Kanye West our generation's Michael Jackson?

'Ye does make great music and lately, he has been embroiled in quite a bit of controversy .. is that enough to make him this generation's King of Pop?
