As of Thursday morning, the MC, who many argue is the best rapper alive, was released from New York's Rikers Island. On Wednesday (November 3), Mack Maine, one of Lil Wayne's best friends, juggled phone calls from Lil Tunechi's mother Ms. Cita and other family during his sit down with MTV News' Sway.
"His mom's been calling during this interview. She just flew in and, basically, he's gonna wanna chill with his family, his kids, too," said the Young Money President.
At press time, it was up in the air whether Lil Wayne will head to Arizona for a bit of legal business stemming from a drug case in the South West state. During Mack Maine's interview with MTV News, he said "We have to go to court on the 5th in Arizona," which would be Friday.
During his stint in Rikers Island, a plea deal was reached in a case stemming from a January 2008 arrest near a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in which authorities claimed they found cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun on Weezy's tour bus. The MC was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation and no jail time thanks to the deal, which had him plead guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug in exchange for the dismissal of three other drug and weapons charges.
MTV News reached out to Lil Wayne's Arizona attorney James Tilson about the terms.
"Even though it's treated as a felony while he's on probation, if he completes his probation without any violations the offense will be re-designated as a misdemeanor," he said.
