Lil Wayne has fans—if not friends—in high places, no pun intended.
The Young Money CEO can now claim President Barack Obama and former commander-in-chief Bill Clinton as fans.
On Tuesday (November 2), Clinton weighed in on the rapper’s woes in an interview with Pittsburgh radio station 96.1 Kiss FM’s Morning Freak Show. Clinton, who was introduced to the music of the New Orleans native by his daughter, Chelsea, remarked on Weezy’s return to society from New York’s Rikers Island prison on Thursday (November 4).
Calling the MC “smart” and boasting that he's “got ability," Clinton went on to say, “My daughter introduced me to rap and hip hop music after I said some things she thought were not very smart.” Clinton further added, “A lot of these people, they don't just get successful by being really dumb.”
Twitter fans have weighed in on the former Executive Office chief’s support with mixed results.
"Why the f--- is Bill Clinton excited about Lil Wayne getting out tomorrow? Lol ... hilarious," tweeted @FonzarelliClar.
"Wow Bill Clinton said he can't wait for Lil Wayne to get out ... dis n---- is loved by everybody #freeweezy," added @Rell8.
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, President Obama made headlines after name-dropping Lil Wayne—even replacing the POTUS’ beloved Jay-Z. Maybe we're not the only ones celebrating Welcome Home Weezy Week!
