Kanye West has a passion for Egyptian God Horus neck pieces, monochromatic Renaissance-style paintings (check his “Power” clip) and now … tennis.
Fresh from shooting a hush-hush feature film in Prague to accompany his upcoming untitled fifth LP, 'Ye popped up at yesterdays U.S. Open tennis match in New York City alongside model Selita Ebanks watching Andy Roddick take on Serbian player Janko Tipsarevic. Gossip Girl stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr were also watching the match behind Kanye and Selita.
The fashionista draped in a pinstripe white and blue button down and dark shades took a page out of fellow incarcerated rap pal Lil Wayne's playbook who also expressed his love for the game from his "penthouse suite" at New York City's Rikers Island where he’s currently housed.
"I'm a huge [Rafael] Nadal fan," Wayne wrote in to Sports Illustrated. "I'm definitely rooting for him to get the Grand Slam and win the U.S. Open. Nadal wins it all."
Kanye has quietly expressed his passion for sports in the past. A few months prior the rapping producer accompanied LeBron James during his show stealing "The Decision" ESPN special where the star forward revealed he was bolting his Akron, Ohio roots to showcase his talents at South Beach, announcing he'd be donning a Miami Heat Jersey for the next six years.
In the second round of last night’s U.S. Open at the Arthur Ashe stadium in Flushing Meadows Tipsarevic would go on to defeat Roddick with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (4) in a stunning win.
