T.I. took over New York's posh Capitale Restaurant Monday night for his first post-prison performance. The secret show brought a medley of devoted fans, entertainment industry figures and music superstars, and all were thrilled with the King of the South's return.
"It was an amazing show," rap newcomer Yelawolf said. "Normally, I save my best songs until the end of my set, but that guy just has so many smashes!"
Keri Hilson, who closed things out with T.I. for a rendition of his latest single "Got Your Back,' was equally impressed with her friend's comeback performance.
"Let's just say he brought his 'A' game," she Tweeted. "I show up for the KING cuz I got his back. And he's murking...guess who's BACK?!?"
"I couldn't be more excited,' veteran TV producer Leigh Davenport said after T.I.P.'s show. "The hip hop landscape was missing the King of the South. TI brings an energy to music that makes everyone else go harder," she added.
Davenport, who also attended Kanye West's secret show last week added, "I think that Kanye and T.I. are both working on their comeback stories right now The secret show is the perfect way to let everybody know bigger things are on the horizon.
T.I. himself took to Twitter to shout out the artists who joined him on-stage at the concert, including Mary J. Blige, Keri Hilson, Cam’Ron, Maino, Ricco, Swizz Beatz, B.o.B., Playboy Tre and his Grand Hustle crew, before adding, "And last but not least thank you to NY and all the fans for hanging with da king!"
