Sean Penn isn’t the only celebrity expressing reservations about Wylcef Jean’s announcement to run for president of Haiti. Wyclef’s former Fugee group member, Pras, has also joined the bandwagon.
Pras recently spoke with MTV News about his decision to support Wyclef’s opponent, Michel Martelly.
In the clip above, Pras takes on Wycelf’s execution strategy for his platform.
“Look he talks about healthcare, he talks about you know education, you know he talks about infrastructure,” Pras said. “But that’s in any society. That’s right here in America. We need that, you know? But how are you going to get to that point?”
Pras also comments on Wyclef’s lack of acknowledgement about Haiti’s short term needs.
Pras then goes into further detail about why Martelly is a better candidate for the position.

"Listen, I love Wyclef to death,” he says. "We came up together, we grew up together, we basically called each other cousins. But the reality is this, we need a real leader. Not just a regular leader, but a transformative leader. Someone that's gonna be able to galvanize the Haitians down on the field, the Haitian-Americans, the international community, it's a collective support — to take this country to the 21st century. And I'm just not convinced Wyclef is the one for that."
As of press time, Pras has not spoken to Wyclef and Clef’s camp has not responded with a comment.
