With his $20M "Takers" haul, T.I. joins a long list of rappers from Will Smith and Ice Cube to Queen Latifah and LL Cool J to successfully transition from the rap game to the big screen.
We asked a few key players in the game who they thought would be hip-hop's next break-out star.
"If Phonte Coleman [Little Brother] ever decided to pursue acting I think he'd be great. He has about 100 different characters going on inside him already if you listen to his skits and music." – Jerry Barrow, Senior Editor The Urban Daily
"I think Nicki Minaj because she's over-acting in most of her verses. She plays a number of characters on records and on video, and on the screen she could easily be Brigitte Bardot Barbie." – Jake Paine, Editor-In-Chief HipHopDX.com
Hit the jump to see what other hip-hop heads had to say...
"Drake, because he’s already an actor from DeGrassi. He’s a triple threat, consummate showman, idolizes Leo DiCaprio, and turns roles that are stereotypical. Plus, the ladies love him." – Chuck Creekmur, CEO AllHipHop.com
"I think if Jay-Z were offered the "right role" he'd definitely be the next one to hit the big screen and be the next breakout movie star. It’s one of the few things that Jay-Z hasn’t done." – Julissa B, Host "Jersey Shore After Hours"
"Kanye seems to always look for new challenges and seeing himself on the big screen seems like it would be too good to resist. Plus, dude has already shown that he has comedic timing as evidenced by turns on Entourage and SNL. Plus, his tweets from his classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute would be awesome!" – Rashaun Hall, Kidult.com
