Kanye West has been cooking up his next album for some time out in Hawaii (again), where a who's who list of hip-hop talent has been collaborating with the Chicago MC and producer. Behind the boards Q-Tip, the RZA, Pete Rock, DJ Toomp, and No ID are just some of the names helping 'Ye orchestrate his hopeful masterpiece. Consequence, Kid Cudi, and Clipse's Pusha T are among the spit kickers sparring with West on his still untitled project.
With the bevy of star power assembled for one album and the overall enthusiasm dedicated to the task at hand--Ross told Sway during "RapFix Live" that Kanye plays tribal movies without the sound in the studio; "I think he's trying to make music that matches those images," he said--the Miami Don said the scene reminded him of how Dr. Dre must craft his classic collections.
"I was just like, Wow," Ross told Sway. "I listened to [Kanye's] beats, and we working on what I'm doing, but then he's in another room cooking up something ... and just the intensity that you have to have to create albums that are gonna stand the test of time for years. He's such a great producer himself, and to have a Pete Rock over your shoulder just working on a particular sound and DJ Toomp, No ID, and Nicki Minaj, I see what's going on. It's The Chronic all over. That's exactly what I said when I walked into the room: This is The Chronic, this is how it had to be."
