For many, "GTA V" was the one game that everyone was looking forward to the most. Whereas for everyone else, it was the one game they were most sick and tired of hear about.
As such, it's perhaps not surprising to hear that day one sales were fairly healthy. Turns out, they were very healthy; Take-Two Interactive has revealed that the game brought in over $800 million worldwide in the first 24 hours.
Games Industry International claims that it's the brand new day one record for the entire video game industry. The previous title owner was "Call of Duty: Black Ops II", which racked in $500 million upon its debut.
And given how the previous record was the biggest launch total ever in the world of entertainment, period, that makes Rockstar’s latest and greatest an even bigger deal than ever before.
