Knives Out: Arkane Announces ‘Dishonored’ GOTY Edition for October, Starting Next-Gen Development

In unsurprising but not unwelcome news, Arkane Studios has announced a Game of the Year edition of “Dishonored,” last year’s critically acclaimed, whale blubber-powered stealth-action jaunt.

As with most GOTY editions, the new “Dishonored” game will come with all of its previously-released downloadable content, including:

  • “The Void Walker’s Arsenal,” a pack of special in-game items
  • “Dunwall City Trials,” a series of challenge maps to test your combat and stealth skills
  • “The Knife of Dunwall” and “The Brigmore Witches,” a two-part epilogue told from a rival assassin’s point of view

“Dishonored” is well-loved round the MTV offices, so anybody who hasn’t already explored Dunwall’s steamy, rain-slick streets ¬†will should jump at the chance to snag a new copy (+ DLC) for $39.99 when it comes out on October 8 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

I also don’t usually give box art the time of day, but the “Dishonored: Game of the Year Edition” is¬†pretty slick. Look below.

With a bow firmly planted on “Dishonored,” Arkane are also staffing up for next-gen development. According to a post on publisher and parent company Bethesda’s blog, Arkane are hiring programmers in both their Austin and Lyon, France studios. Rumor has it that Arkane could take over troubled “Prey 2″ development from Human Head, but something like “Dishonored 2″ apparently isn’t out of the question, either.
