The killer doll gets a little more mobile in this teaser trailer for “Chucky: Slash & Dash.”
“Slash & Dash” is from developer Slimstown Studios who are behind the two game “Dragonbites” series, making their first foray into licensed horror gaming. From the developer’s synopsis:
Chucky renews his quest to seek revenge in a never-ending nightmare in which he’s endlessly running through the factory that produces Good Guys dolls. Players will control Chucky while sprinting through the factory floor, the catwalks, the warehouse, or even outside, and will need to avoid conveyor belts, forklifts, acid pools, barrels and other obstacles. Chucky can also eliminate enemies patrolling the factory using his classic knife or other more outlandish weapons in the arsenal. As they play, gamers will collect batteries that can be used to acquire in-game items or power-ups, such as a double battery bonus, a fast start, or extra lives that can extend a run after dying.
It’s not clear from the trailer if longtime “Child’s Play” voice actor Brad Dourif will return as the voice of Chucky, although it wouldn’t be a big surprise: the actor returned to the character in the direct-to-video “Curse of Chucky” which is out later this year.
Chucky joins the ranks of “Nightmare on Elm Street” boogeyman Freddy and “Friday the 13th” machete aficionado Jason Voorhees on the short list of horror movie slashers with their own games. Of course, the Rare-developed “Elm Street” and “Friday” from Atlus (both games were published by LJN) were notoriously terrible, taking… liberties with the source material in order to cram the gruesome, R-rated carnage of the films into something you could pick up without an adult at your local video store back in the day.
