Gamasutra brings word that the "Defiance" and "Rift" developer is closing its San Diego studio amid shakeups in its corporate structure.
Citing a desire to redirect their efforts to the Redwood City headquarters and supporting titles like "Rift," and the in-development "AcheAge" and "End of Nations," Trion Worlds has opted to close the doors on the San Diego Studio.
Here's the quote from Trion Worlds:
We can confirm that the San Diego studio will be closing. The day to day operations of Defiance will be moved to our Redwood City studio where it can be managed alongside Rift and our other in development titles including ArcheAge and End of Nations. As part of this transition, we are working hard to ensure that a number of great people will be making the move from San Diego to the Bay Area and continue their work at Trion.
The multi-platform "Defiance" launched back in April to middling reviews, with a SyFy Channel tie-in series, putting you in the role of a treasure hunting mercenary on Earth decades after a prolonged war between humans and aliens. The television show has just begun shooting its second season.
