We are now officially one month away from the 2013 edition of the Penny Arcade Expo, aka PAX Prime for short. It’s a yearly gathering that many diehard game fans look forward to the most, even more so than all mighty E3 itself. Mostly because it’s a whole lot more fun.
There are many highlights each and every year, though at the top of the list for many is the PAX 10. It’s an indie game showcase that draws from hundreds of submissions. In the end, only ten are chosen by a panel of experts, who have deemed them to be the best of the best.
This year’s selection has just been revealed. Most are games you may have never heard of, thus the whole point of PAX 10 to begin with. Some have yet to be released, while a few can be purchased and played this very second.
Though they all have one thing in common: each selection highlights the fact that some of the finest games being made today are not being assembled within the falls of some AAA studio’s multimillion studio, but in some guy next door’s bedroom.
And for this year, they are:
- Avalanche 2: Super Avalanche by Beast Games
- BADLAND by Frogmind
- Escape Goat 2 by MagicalTimeBean
- Gunpoint by Suspicious Developments
- Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime by Asteroid Base
- Owlboy by D-Pad Studio
- Ridiculous Fishing by Vlambeer
- Rogue Legacy by Cellar Door Games
- Sokobond by Alan Hazelden, Harry Lee, and Ryan Roth
- Towerfall by Matt Makes Games
Each title will have its own set-up, more than likely in the Indie Mega Booth, and more than likely, the fine folks who made said games will be in attendance, to field any questions.
