On the off chance that you woke up this morning and thought, “You know, I’d really like to buy a game about a cyborg hitman fighting a tiger, and I’d really like an 80-page art book to come with it,” XSEED have some news for you: Grasshopper Manufacture’s cel-shaded brawler will go on sale on August 27th, bundled with all manner of bonuses.
“Launch window” versions of “Killer is Dead” will come with the aforementioned 80-page, hardcover art book, a 25-song soundtrack, and the “Smooth Operator” downloadable content pack, which itself includes an extra story chapter, new missions, and alternate costumes for certain characters. The package comes at no extra charge with all “initial launch copies” of the game (including pre-orders), according to XSEED’s press release.
“We are looking forward to the upcoming release of ’Killer is Dead’ with a special art book, soundtrack CD and bonus DLC,” said Shinichi Suzuki, President of XSEED Games. “Fans have been very supportive, which we’re extremely grateful for, so everyone who has pre-ordered the game or buys it at launch will get a deluxe version for no extra charge.”
That’s well and good, but it’s unclear how big the first run of “Killer is Dead” is, or how long the launch window lasts. While not explicitly addressed in the press release, I’m assuming the “Smooth Operator” DLC will eventually be sold separately as well.
“Killer is Dead” will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 27.
