Instead of taking the stage at E3 in June, Nintendo has decided to focus on smaller events of their own. In particular, a Nintendo Direct presentation will broadcast before E3, sharing details on “new Smash Bros., 3D Mario game, Mario Kart and other Wii U titles.”
Nintendo had previously stated that all three of the aforementioned games would be playable at the company’s booth during E3, but what about the folks who can’t make it to the show? According to a recent tweet from Nintendo of America, the pre-E3 Nintendo Direct will at least gives fans a peek at what’s in store.
What’s interesting is the possible relationship this Nintendo Direct will have on the recently announced E3 demo stations Nintendo is setting up with Best Buy. Will fans be able to play the new Mario Kart and Smash Bros. games at their local store after the E3 reveal?
It’s an approach that would definitely get the games in front of more consumers, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Nintendo has planned. If I remember correctly, the GameStop “demo” stations introduced before the Wii U launch left a lot to be desired.
