According to an Activision spokesperson, forty full-time employees from the publisher’s High Moon Studios are out of a job as of today. Apparently, the layoffs come as the team wraps up development on the highly-anticipated “Deadpool” game.
“Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process,” Activision tells Joystiq. “With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services.”
Aside from their work on “Deadpool,” High Moon Studios is known for developing various Transformers games, including War for Cybertron, film tie-in Dark of the Moon and Fall of Cybertron.
“Deadpool” is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer.
