'Fruit Ninja' Creators Take Us Behind the Scenes Of 'Fish out of Water'

Halfbrick, the studio that brought us app store hits "Fruit Ninja" and "Jetpack Joyride," recently revealed their next mobile game, "Fish out of Water." In anticipation of the upcoming launch, they take us behind the scenes in the video above to get a look at how this fishy game came to life. Also, crab noises.

"Fish out of Water" tasks players with skipping their favorite fishy characters across the surface of the water, seeing just how far they'll go. It's a lot like what we did as kids, skipping stones across the pond. However, Halfbrick didn't think people would have much fun playing with a rock on their mobile device, and in came the fish.

The video, which is part one of a two-part series leading up to launch, also gives us a look at where all of the game's interesting undersea noises come from. For instance, it looks like Halfbrick spent a lot of time recording the sounds of various items dropping into a bucket of water. As it turns out, puffer fish have a lot more in common with party balloons than I would have guessed.

"Fish out of Water" will be available for iPhone and iPad beginning April 18th.
