The creators of "Street Fighter: Legacy" are looking for help to fund their next project, the Capcom-approved "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist."
Joey Ansah and Chris Howard are two guys who apparently really, really love "Street Fighter." So much so, that after completing and releasing "Legacy" about three years ago, with the help of their producer Jacqueline Quella, the duo acquired the option for the franchise from publisher Capcom to produce "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist."
Since then, they've gone on to raise independent financing for their production budget, but now they're reaching out to the fan community for the £625,000 (nearly $1 million USD) to get "Assassin's Fist" made. Ansah says that at this point, the scripts are complete and they've begun staffing up for the production as well as casting, bringing aboard veteran Japanese actor Togo Igawa ("The Last Saumurai), with production set to start later this year with a planned winter 2013 release.
Citing unnamed big budget offers that would have included strings which would ultimately compromise their vision, Ansah and Howard offered this plea to the community:
With something like this, if you are a fan, loved ‘Street Fighter: Legacy’ and are as excited to see 'Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist' as we are to make it, then please step up and contribute! Don’t assume others will so you can sit back and chill. It took me, a fan, to get off my ass invest my own money, time, blood and sweat to make 'Street Fighter: Legacy' possible, which has now made 'Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist' a real possibility. All I ask is you guys do the same on a much smaller scale and everyone wins.
So what do you think of "Assassin's Fist?" Is this a "Street Fighter" project you want to back?
