Square Enix Sends 'Final Fantasy V' To iOS Today

Square Enix today announced that their classic RPG "Final Fantasy V" has found a new home on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. Are you ready?

The twenty year-old game, which first appeared on the Super Famicom in Japan and later the Super Nintendo in North America, hasn't changed a whole lot since. However, there are some new features in this release, namely touchscreen controls, updated visuals, new job classes (26 in total) and additional boss battles.

It's always great to see another Final Fantasy game get the mobile treatment, but once again we're disappointed by Square Enix's pricing structure. Like many of the FF games to hit the app store, Final Fantasy V will cost nostalgic gamers a cool $15.99. To put that in perspective, the 2010 Wii Virtual Console release only costs about $8. Sure, you might get a little more with this version, but you also can't use a controller or play on your TV. Either way, it's available now.
