Xbox 360 Adds Redbox Instant and GameTrailers Apps

There’s no shortage of streaming options on Xbox Live, but Major Nelson recently informed us that another batch has joined the ranks. Two new apps were recently added to the ever-growing list of video services on Xbox – GameTrailers and the newly launched Redbox Instant.

Redbox Instant by Verizon will offer up movie rentals and purchases to anyone with an Xbox Live Gold subscription, but they also have streaming and DVD/Blu-ray rental options similar to those offered by Netflix. For $8 a month, members get four kiosk DVD rentals and unlimited streaming. Bump the subscription up to $9 a month and the DVDs are replaced by Blu-ray discs. A one-month free trial is also available to new subscribers.

The second new app, not so movie and TV oriented, is GameTrailers. Much like the IGN app, it brings the video portal’s original content, reviews, interviews and trailers straight to the Xbox 360. Like all of the other video apps, GameTrailers requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
