First-Person Survival Horror Game 'Outlast' Coming To PAX

One of the most promising games of 2013 looks to be "Outlast," the asylum-set survival horror game from Montreal-based studio Red Barrels.

You can get some hands-on time as reporter Miles Upshur when Red Barrels brings their game to PAX East later this month (and maybe we'll start getting a firm word on some kind of release date).

The game, with a story by "Splinter Cell" writer J.T. Petty, follows an intrepid investigative journalist attempting to piece together the mystery behind the abandoned institution on Mount Massive which was taken over from the state by a shady corporation. While the outline for the story is fairly boilerplate found footage stuff, I'm excited about the game's perspective, looking through the viewfinder of a night vision camera in order to see what's knocking around in the night.

Red Barrels is developing "Outlast" for the PC with a planned release sometime this year. PAX East will run March 22-24 in Boston.
