New Video Game Releases For The Week Of 2/26: A Ninja's Black Ops Odyssey In Predatorland

A light week for major console releases, although the 3DS and Vita will get their own massive RPG and hack and slash remakes respectively. Plus, "Halo 4" and "Black Ops 2" get content updates with new map packs.

Title: "Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan"

Platform(s): 3DS

This Atlus-published RPG seems like a mix of Norse mythology and high-fantasy tropes, putting players in the role of an explorer traveling to Yggdrasil, the World Tree in the hopes of finding fame and fortune in the world of Tharsis.

It looks like standard JRPG fare with 3D monsters roaming the forest and making life a challenge for your nameless hero, with the bonus addition of a skyship to carry you and your party around Tharsis in search of more adventure.

Title: "Nija Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus"

Platform(s): PS Vita

Team Ninja is promising a host of new features for the handheld remake of "Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2" including the usual front and rear touch features that the Vita encourages but never quite implements well. The real question is to what extent do "NGSP2" fix the many issues with the original "Ninja Gaiden 2," which ramped up the difficulty from the first game alongside some clumsy level design and awkward boss fights--the result of series mastermind Itagaki's abrupt departure from Tecmo Koei.

Title: "Alien Vs. Predator: Evolution"

Platform(s): iOS, Android

I would love it if we could get through the new decade with one good tie-in featuring the "Aliens" brand. That's all, no commentary on this specific game. Just, you know, between "Prometheus" and "Aliens: Colonial Marines," it's hard out there for a Xeno fan.

This iOS/Android title was developed by Angry Mob who've created a third-person action game featuring the Aliens and Predators murdering each other for alpha killer supremacy.

Title: "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" Revolution Map Pack/"Halo 4" Majestic Map Pack

Platform(s): Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Two big shooters are getting major content updates this week. Are you ready to join the Revolution with Treyarch's "Black Ops 2" DLC, or are you feeling more Majestic, in line with 343's new maps for "Halo 4?"
