‘Diablo III’ On PS3 And PS4 Will Not Require A Constant Internet Connection

Worried that “Diablo III” for PS3 and PS4 will force you to stay connected to the internet? Well, worry no more! Blizzard production director John Hight has confirmed that the game will not require a constant connection for local multiplayer.

“You can have four people on the same screen – no split-screen, we just zoom the camera out. Or if you’re offline,” Hight tells Geoff Keighley on GameTrailers.

The comment was made around the two minute mark in the video above, where Hight also revealed a new evasion ability, which sounds like it could allow the player to quickly get out of a sticky situation.

When “Diablo III” launched for PC and Mac the game required an internet connection even if you were playing single-player. Local multiplayer that doesn’t require a constant connection could make the game appealing to a wider audience.
