'Plants vs. Zombies' Free For The First Time On iOS

"Plants vs. Zombies" has been fixture on the App Store charts since it was released for iOS back in 2010. The game has seen countless downloads, and now, for the first time ever, PopCap's comical tower defense title is available for free on iPhone and iPad.

Considering how popular the game has become across PC, Mac, Xbox Live, iOS and Android, there's a good chance you already have it, somewhere. But if that somewhere isn't your iPhone or iPad, today's your day. Even if you don't necessarily want it right now, there's a good chance that somewhere down line you'll need something to kill some time, and what better way to do it?

"Plants vs. Zombies 2" is scheduled to land this spring, meaning the free download will provide a great way to get those finger muscles in shape before the updated zombie horde is let loose on your virtual home. As Apple's "App of the Week," the sale will continue throughout this week.
