Publisher EA is trotting the sequel out to the big game sellers, at least according to a tweet from the CEO of Gamestop.
Of the preview, Gamestop CEO Paul Raines enthused “Got to see Battlefield 4 today and all I can say is WOW! Thanks @EA for the sneak peek. Can’t wait for you all to see it.”
While there’s nothing especially, you know, special about behind-closed-doors previews for retailers, it’s mighty auspicious that the preview happened only a day before Sony’s big New York thing tonight. Is it possible the wider public might be seeing what developer DICE has has been cooking up for the sequel to the massive FPS? Gamespot points out that near the beginning of the year, EA promised to begin showing off “Battlefield 4” within the quarter.
“Battlefield 3” has had such a tremendous life post-launch in terms of its robust multiplayer, frequent updates, and huge community of lunatics who’ve mastered the art of tormenting ground forces with choppers. While a part of me wishes that DICE could have continued supporting “3” as a platform for more updates, I’m intrigued by what they’ve got up their sleeves for the next game.
