Naughty Dog Nudges ‘The Last of Us’ Into June

In a PlayStation Blog post, Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckman dropped a new release date for the upcoming survival horror game. Now dated for June 14, according to Druckman, the new release date allows the developer to “ensure every detail of ’The Last of Us’ was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards.”

Citing the size and scope of “The Last of Us,” Druckman adds that the burdens of new tech, a new genre, and the length of the campaign has been a challenge for the “Uncharted” developer. Indeed, based on our preview, “The Last of Us” appears to be an ambitious game, but it’s hard to imagine exactly how much the developer will gain from just a few extra weeks. That length of time is usually for squashing bugs, not large fixes, which, I suppose, bodes well for “The Last of Us” which may just need a slight push over the finish line.
