Capcom have released a new trailer for the upcoming “Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen,” a meaty expansion pack to last year’s action role-playing game. “Dark Arisen” includes the original “Dragon’s Dogma” as well as new quests, dungeons, and items and will sport an attractive $40 price tag.
As such, it looks like Capcom is hoping to attract old and new players to the game, and the most recent trailer serves as an introduction to the various monsters, enemies, and horrors of the Bitterblack Isle. I know that “Dragon’s Dogma” is supposed to be no-nonsense high-fantasy, but I can’t help but laugh when a maneater pops out of a treasure chest and swallows the eponymous Arisen whole.
According to Capcom’s Unity blog, the monsters in this trailer are, in order of appearance: Death, pyresaurian, worm, maneater, strigoi, skeleton brute, siren, eliminator, and gore cyclops. The cyclops fight in particular is evocative of “Shadow of the Colossus’” climbing-focused combat.
“Dark Arisen” will be out in April on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, following up “Dragon Dogma”’s better-than-expected sales: the game sold over a million copies, leading Capcom to “consider” a sequel.
