New 'Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn' Screenshots Show Us Updated Playable Races

To say "Final Fantasy XIV" had a less than stellar launch would be understatement, but Square Enix aims to fix that, and hopefully regain some fans, with a massive redo. "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" gives the game a complete overhaul, and the team recently shared some screens introducing us to the reborn playable races.

Though customization options will be limited, Square says that all of the game's races will be playable during the first phase of the beta when it finally launches. “We're putting a lot of work into various options such as hair styles and colors (a whopping 192 shades are being planned!) based on feedback from the alpha test, and everything should be ready by phase three,” said producer Naoki Yoshida.

You can see the Hyur Midlander female above and the Hyur Highlander female, below.

Next, it's the Elezen male

Followed by the Lalafell

Then there's the Miqo'te male

And finally, the Roegadyn female

Phase one of the beta is set to begin in February. If you want to get in on the action head over to Square Enix's website.
