‘Temple Run’ Downloaded 2.5 Million Times on Christmas Day

Did you get a new iPhone, iPad or Android device for Christmas? Did you immediately find your way into the App Store to pick up “Temple Run“? If so, you’re not alone. It turns out the game was downloaded 2.5 million times on Christmas day alone.

The news comes straight from Imangi Studios co-founder Keith Shepherd, who recently tweeted, “Temple Run had over a million downloads on iOS, over a million on Android, and over 500k on Amazon on Christmas day. Crazy!”

For those of you who haven’t played before, Temple Run is a pretty simple game. Players take on the role of an Indiana Jones style treasure hunter who’s just stolen a mystical relic. Unfortunately, a band of demon monkeys isn’t to happy about the explorer’s find and the chase begins. Players swipe the screen, dodging obstacles around every corner as they try to make their escape. The longer you stay on the run, the more coins you’ll be able to collect.

Temple Run is a free download on Android and iOS, offering players the option to fork over cash in exchange for in-game currency that can be used to unlock new characters, wallpapers and more. Head over to the App Store or Google Play to check it out.
