Nothing like waiting until the last possible minute for your release date announcement, right?
While we knew that the Wii U port of "Assassin's Creed III" would happen somewhere around the consoles launch window, it's only two days out from the console hitting stores on Sunday that Ubisoft would announce the game's release date. This will also provide one of the early side-by-side comparisons for many gamers for how well the Wii U can handle current gen games while giving those titles enough features to justify picking them up on Nintendo's console.
Here's a refresher on a few of the core features you can expect from the Wii U port of "Assassin's Creed III": first off, you'll be able to play the game directly from the GamePad screen. In addition to that, you'll be able to use the GamePad's screen as a larger map than the one used in-game and select weapons from Connor's arsenal. Naval warfare will also be controllable through the GamePad, which is a nice trick.
Still no official date on the PC release, though, and Ubisoft has promised that the 360 and PS3 versions of the game should expect patches in the near future.
