Earlier this year Microsoft surprised some of their most loyal Xbox Live subscribers with some neat avatar gear. Now, they're doing it again, but on a much larger new scale. To celebrate 10 years of Xbox Live, Microsoft is giving some lucky loyal subscribers the limited edition Xbox 360 console pictured above.
The promotion was revealed by Major Nelson on Twitter. According to a representative who spoke with IGN, Microsoft is “celebrating the 10th anniversary of Xbox Live by conducting special promotions for our members worldwide and today we began to surprise a select number of our loyal 10 year Xbox Live members in the U.S. with special edition anniversary consoles. These consoles were created for a special promotion and will not be available at retail locations.”
The console itself features a green, gray and orange color scheme, along with a special “Xbox Live: A Decade of Entertainment” logo highlighting the original Xbox, Kinect, the Vision camera and other memorable Xbox hardware. Rather than sporting the standard “Xbox 360” text, this limited edition console's disc drive door is labeled XBL 10.
Microsoft hasn't revealed how many of the consoles will be passed out or specific details on how one would qualify to receive the freebie. However, interested fans can head over to Xbox.com for details on how to enter the sweepstakes.
